Fabric: Approximately 18” square of your favorite spring fabric, or DIY your own version using canvas and Chalkology® Paste in Camel, Dusky Blue, and Rose Gold
Tools & Accessories: Batting or stuffing, baker’s twine (approximately 4’), hot glue gun and glue, scissors, sewing needle, accent ribbons to be tied between each bird (approximately 7 strips of 10–12” ribbons)
Steps:
Use your template (or Chalkology Paste and Bird Cutout Patterns Transfer) to trace bird and wing elements onto your chosen fabric. Leave space between each element. For a 4’ garland, create a total of 8 birds and 8 wings.
Using scissors, cut out the birds and wings, leaving a ⅛” border around each element.
Create the back sides for each bird and wing stuffy. This can be done by re-tracing your template or by outlining your finished chalked and cut-out pieces. Once created, cut them out.
Line up your bird front and bird back, hot glue around the edges, and press together. Leave a 1” opening to insert stuffing.
Fill the bird with stuffing through the opening. It may help to use an object such as a capped pen to push stuffing into the bird’s head and tail (the bird won’t mind, we promise).
Once your bird is stuffed, continue gluing around the bird’s edge, pressing the edges together until the entire stuffy is glued.
Repeat steps 4–6, for all birds and wings.
Hot glue the wings to the stuffies.
Alternate large and small birds, then sew twine through the back of each stuffy or hot glue the twine to the back of the stuffies.
Tie ribbon accents between the birds.
Hang and display!
